Our journey starts from the day our co-founders Edzo Ebbens from the Netherlands and Raj Basnet from Nepal met one fine day in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Coming from a medical background, Edzo has been working as a doctor, a philanthropist, and lately as a seller being part of Lotus Design Winkel while Raj has been working as a manufacturer and exporter at Felt and Yarn. During the conversation, Raj was amazed to see the intense love for Nepal in the heart of Edzo and the work he has been doing in close coordination with the Vajra Foundation to support minority groups. Similarly, Edzo was captivated to know the work and effort Raj has been putting in not just to export felt items around the globe but employing over 100+ homemakers. The impact felting work has brought in the lives of women employed at the Kathmandu workshop touched the heart of both.

The passion for working on craft and supporting Nepalese women to uplift the living standard was clearly common between both. The instant rapport led to the thought that a new sustainable and scalable project of felting can bring a bigger impact on the livelihood of Nepalese women and gave birth to the idea of launching Kuuma shoes.

Kuuma also envisions touching the lives of people on a daily basis by providing comfort and touch of fashion. Kuuma represents warmth that Nepal wants to spread in the world by combining the deep love for nature with the premium design and extremely comfortable footwear for all.
